The general process:
Step 1 Assessment
Assessment is a collaborative process between parents, teachers, health professionals and the child. Relevent Occupational Therapy assessments are completed with the child at school / kinder or at the Kids Therapy Network rooms. Assessment results, clinical observations, child, teacher and parent input are compiled to form the basis of our comprehensive written report and recommendations.

Step 2 Intervention
If Occupational Therapy intervention is indicated we meet the child's needs by working directly with the child on specific tasks that promote his or her confidence and skills. Teachers may be provided with strategies, equipment or task modifications to try. Parents may be provided with positive and achievable "homework" activities. Children are actively involved, their Occupational Therapy programme meets their individual needs. Intervention usually occurs at school, kinder, home or at the Kids Therapy Network rooms on a weekly basis.

Step 3 Support structures
As positive and active team members we work collaboratively with parents and teachers in setting goals and providing intervention. As consultants we share information and practical strategies that will assist the child's development and performance. Communication is essential, we provide parents and staff with therapy notes for every session, we do our very best to be readily available by mobile phone and email.

We also design, implement and monitor specific skill development programmes at home, school, and kinder.

For the child, Occupational Therapy is a positive and productive experience which builds specific skills, self-confidence and optimism. Families and teachers gain valuable knowledge about the child's abilities and strategies to promote their development.
